Sunday Fun Continued.

At 1:30 I showed up for work crew as a Production Assistant for a commercial/ music video forO.A.R, ESPN and the College World Series down in the Old Market. IT was being produced by MRB productions out of LA, Lights On, and North Sea Films. A pretty big shoot with an almost countless number of scenes. It was a great way to contribute to my already burnt skin. It was also bloody hot out so I continued to sweat my butt off all day.
My job consists of doing what ever the ear bud in my ear tells me to do. Everything from tear down, and set-up of individual shots, equipment transportation, to driving the band to and from hotels. Basically be at the beck and call of anyone who needed help. The band seemed to be made up of nice enough blokes, and it was a pretty fun day. Home by 10:30

Sunday Fun?

Every day should start out with a good breakfast.
Awoke at 5:15.
Two pieces of toast and two eggs.
Drove to Lake Manawa for triple training.
Waited for all to arrive.
1000-1500 meter swim.
The water was rough, I thought I may get sea sick.
4 x 10k+ around Lake Manawa on bike. Easy group lap, individual time trial lap, easy lap, pursuit time trial lap (slowest to fastest). Moderate winds. Gerald, Jim, Bill, Adam, Brady, and Jon showed up for the ride. My average time for the course was about 25.5 mph.
We then ran the 10k+ loop.
Home by 10:30 AM.

And Weekends

(I think that I actually look like I need to be on oxygen in the photo.)

So this last weekend was packed jam full of activities for me. It was my grandfather's 84th birthday on Saturday so I drove to David City after a 4 x 10k fun little time trial with some friends followed by a 10k run. On my way home I was lucky enough to get pulled over in Wahoo for going 7 over in town. I got away with a warning, but my car registration was expired so I have to get that taken care of then drive back to Wahoo to get that signed off on later this week.
On Sunday my brother put the menu together for a mug club party out at granite city. It's main entrees were a Spiced Raspberry Crusted Whitefish and New Mexico Sausage and Citrui. I always come in and shoot some photos of the dishes my brother creates so he can show 'em off to corporate and I get a nice little change to do some culinary photography, which is pretty tough work. It is much easier to eat.

The party was complete with a 5 piece mariachi band. The band sang happy birthday to my grandpa on numerous occasions.

I jettisoned from GC to head over to Rick's for a little farewell ditty for Seth as he takes of for Estes Park for the summer. He is a bastard. We expect him to come back cruising V9s and projecting V11s. Once again, Seth sucks. With such a diverse mix of friends in the climbing community here, we are lucky enough to wind down the weekend with beer and pure oxygen. If that isn't a way to end a weekend, I might as well just give up.

Mayor's Ride

I was disturbed from my slumber on Monday morning to come check out the Mayor's Ride. It started down by Cali Taco and the bike co-op. There was a decent turn out for the event, including some crazy lady spouting about cops killing dogs. Lead by a police escort the contingency of riders rode down to the new ped bridge and back. Kinda lame, but it was for a good cause, right? To make matters more silly Eric and I dressed up and slacks, shirts and ties to the ride while everyone else dressed down into their best bicycling garb.

Urban Century Single Speed

Last friday Mr. Eric Brunt and I did an end-of-semester 100 mile victory ride on the Boulevard route here in O-Town originally part of the 29er Trifecta. So three laps, then a third of one. It went down smooth like butter except for one crash because Eric's brakes work too good and I guess I thought I should run into him. I didn't even cry! One tuck duck and roll with some helmet kissing concrete action later, the rest went off without a hitch.
